We grew up together at IIRR Small Community. We had the same grade and high schools. We even had the same "bestida" style, hers is blue mine is yellow. We slept over at each other's haybols. We learned survival via the forestlike environs of IIRR. We sought each other's advice at teen life until the early days of married life... until one day, she was bound KSA! No email, no contact number, not even a clear postal address to locate her. I received a snailmail, replied, but did not prosper to a second one.
Last year, I discovered her at FB. Which led to HOLA, a reunion.
Am sooo glad she was able to go back to the mainstream of being a nurse. Twelve years she abandoned the profession to be mother and wife. But culture and economics are hard up. Opting to go a different direction where most Filipino nurses desired... US and Canada... eventhough the middle east is not that big paycheck... she indulged. And every sweat paid off. As to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, she had more than enough and continue to save for the future.
I sense happiness. She has 5 beautiful growing kids.
We shared 2 nights of reminiscing, updating, and visioning. God is GOOD!
